Memorial
services for Joan Lightfoot, 74 of Roswell will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday,
October 8, 2009 at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Troy Grant
officiating. Joan passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 at Eastern New Mexico
Medical Center. Joan was born August 27, 1935 to Leonardo G. Snow and Mary
Elizabeth Brice in Deming, NM. She moved to Roswell nine months ago, relocating
from Bronte, TX, where she lived for 7 years. While living there she was a
member of First Baptist Church and she loved the Minister, David Bailey, of the
First United Methodist Church. She lived in Roswell for 26 years prior to moving
to Bronte, TX. Joan retired from Christmas by Krebs after 15 years of service
with them, before that she worked for Murphy Energy Corporation for 15 years as
a secretary/book keeper. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars, Red Hat
Society, Sorisis Club and Lions Club of Roswell. She was an avid and
accomplished Bridge Player and was on a bowling league where she bowled
regularly. She enjoyed crocheting, doing arts and crafts, cooking especially for
her favorite holiday, Christmas. Joan was a cancer survivor and walked for
Breast Cancer for Susan G. Komen. Joan loved being with her family, children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and
loved her. She is survived by three girls; Lee Ann Fabry of Lubbock, TX, Mona
Kirk of Roswell and Karen Brito of Artesia, her mother; Mary Elizabeth Snow of
Carlsbad, NM, one granddaughter; Shaunna Payne and her husband Neil ,of Andrews,
TX., one grandson; Jason Fabry of Lubbock, TX, three great grandchildren; Alyka
and Landon Payne, Mackie Fabry, one sister; Dorene Schleyer of El Paso, TX., one
brother; Glennis Snow of Las Cruces, NM, cousins; Earline Moore of Arkansas,
Patsy Roberson of Tuscola, TX, and a special friend Josie Turner of Roswell and
two granddogs; Joyeux and Eleux. A special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at
Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Joan was preceded in death by her father
